Gold Strike! Opportunities - Surveying the GEP Experience through Data Mining

Thursday, February 2nd, 2017
11:30 – 12:30
Venue: CB1-205

Is your class feeling more like a mining dud than a gold strike? That no matter how deep you dig, your results keep coming up empty despite obvious depositories within reach? Mining the student experience will help you explore ways to strike it rich with your pedagogy - to shine a light on the data and feedback that exists but educators can overlook. Have you ever considered evaluating the dynamic of your class by where students are in their degree progress or the major they are in? Have you viewed the effectiveness of your teaching by what it DOESN'T accomplish? What if you could pick tools to intervene and tunnel into a problem before student learning caved in? Come discuss how to sample your students and their available data then leverage those perspectives to improve your class and General Education at UCF. Bring your GTAs for an immersive conversation and learning experience. To RSVP for this workshop email fctl@ucf.edu.
