What Would It Take to Replace Your Textbook?

Friday, February 10th, 2017
11:00 – 12:00
Venue: CB1-205

Finding the right textbook can be difficult. Sometimes faculty have to use chapters out of order, skip chapters, or bring in ancillary materials. Due to the expense of textbooks, students often forgo buying the textbook, or they rely on older or outdated editions. If you're not satisfied with your current text (or are interested in a free option), we invite you to bring your textbook and syllabus to this workshop to see what it would take to replace your current text with an open source text that's free for students and can be tailored to your course. We will share examples from UCF instructors and address possible barriers to adopting open educational resources. Participants will have time to work on their individual texts with guidance from the facilitators.
