Strategies for Organizing Course Content to Increase Learning

Thursday, September 25th, 2014
10:00am – 11:00am
Presented By: Mr. Eric Main
Venue: CB1-207

This workshop is offered as a stand-alone topic, and it is number 2 of 7 workshops based on the research of Susan Ambrose, et al. in their book How Learning Works: Seven Research-based Principles For Smart Teaching. This workshop will focus on the principle that how students organize knowledge influences how they learn and apply what they know. Participants will learn how to create concept maps, tables, flowcharts, etc. for the course syllabus, lessons, labs, and other learning activities. They will explore ways to reveal deeper structures of problems, ways to make connections among ideas more explicit, and ways to get students to work with multiple organizing structures.
