FACULTY FELLOWS PROGRAM
The Faculty Center hopes to recruit up to five faculty members from across the university and from both the instructor/lecturer and tenure tracks to participate in our 2017-2018 faculty fellows program. All full-time faculty are eligible to apply, and applications are due May 19th. Email email@example.com for more information. We would particularly like to see applications from faculty who have interests in the following areas: engaging in learning space design and research, working with housing and residence life to support co-curricular learning outcomes, working with transfer and transition services to develop faculty and staff-facing professional development programs that encourage transfer student success, and implementing a number of pedagogical innovations.
QEP-SPONSORED WORKSHOP: EPORTFOLIO BOOTCAMP
ePortfolios are a powerful, high-impact practice that help students synthesize their educational experiences and tell their own story to diverse professional audiences. Join us for a one-day bootcamp to learn best practices and new ideas for implementing ePortfolios in your classroom to ensure your students prepare for what’s next.
Events will include a keynote presentation by Dr. Margaret Marshall of Auburn University: “ePortfolios Done Well: The Role of Faculty in the Newest High Impact Practice,” followed by a panel of UCF faculty discussing their experiences in building and assessing ePortfolio assignments. Dr. Marshall will later lead a hands-on workshop helping participants get started on their own ePortfolios. End the day with assisted computer lab time to experiment with your own ePortfolio with Q&A and assistance from Adobe Ambassadors. Coffee, light refreshments, and boxed lunches will be provided for attendees.
No prior experience with ePortfolios is required for this event. We are particularly interested in departmental teams of 2–3 faculty. Space is limited. Participants will receive a free, one-year Adobe Creative Cloud user license.
This workshop will take place on June 9, 2017 from 8:30am–4:00pm in the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (CB1 Room 205). Please RSVP to QEP@ucf.eduno later than May 26, 2017.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S ISSUES CONFERENCE (2018 IWIC WOMEN IN TECH: THE NEXT GENERATION OF ACTIVISTS)
The Women’s and Gender Studies program presents the 3rd international conference on women’s issues. With over 12 countries in the past, our IWIC is a great chance to meet international scholars, present your research, bring your classes and encourage your colleagues and graduate students to participate.
Some of the research areas invited are art, health, literature, education, political science, communication, gender studies, youth, leadership, technology, engineering, psychology, folklore, music, photography, documentary, activism, media, rhetoric, history, philosophy, theater and performance. We encourage UCF registered student organizations to table at the event.

Please have students that you are mentoring in research and scholarship enroll in independent research 4912, if they are not involved in structured research programs. Students can enroll in various credit hours, including 0 credit hours (at no cost if they are enrolled in other courses). When students enroll in this course, it shows up on your course load, and their transcript.

FACULTY WRITING CLUB SUMMER 2017
Join a faculty writing club to start your summer off with a focus on productivity and camaraderie. Having trouble getting into a good writing rhythm? Need to get away from your office to get a change of perspective and a little privacy? Forget the coffee shop—join your colleagues on Thursday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in FCTL for a loosely structured writing session. We'll take five or six minutes each week to go around the room and state a goal for the time block and then spend the rest of the time working on our individual projects. Bring your own laptop or use an FCTL computer. And of course there will be coffee. Everyone is welcome!
