Faculty Excursions
Several times each semester, the Faculty Center coordinates cultural and environmental explorations for faculty members. The list of venues includes plays, concerts, museums, and happy hours. We also go bicycling, camping, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. We will announce such events through the Good Morning UCF E-Newsletter for Faculty and in our monthly newsletter, the CenterPoint. Registration is by email and selection will be on a first-come basis. These events are informal and require a waiver of liability form to be signed before participation.
Theater Excursions: The Curtain is Going Up!
Meet at the Faculty Center at 6:30 PM before every show to chat on the show's background (bring a snack to share; beverages provided) and then walk with us to the theater for the 8:00 PM show. You can purchase your tickets by calling 407-823-1500 or enter to win a free ticket....

The ticket discount will be based on the number of people who sign up with the group; it will be at least 10% off the usual ticket price. Please note, if you want the discount and to be eligible for the free tickets, buy the tickets through us, not online.
The Theater is located at 812 Rollins Street, Orlando (Lockhaven Park).
Previous Excursions
Spring 2009 Theater Excursions included these shows: Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, Wittenberg, Merchant of Venice, and Much Ado about Nothing.
November 2008 Kayak Excursion - we explored the Econlockahatchee with the Day Away Kayak Tour company.
October 2008 Theater Excursion - On October 24th five members of the faculty joined with Theater Chair Steve Chicurel for a pre- West Side Story dinner at Giovanni's. Steve led an enlightening discussion on the development of the show from "East Side Story" to its current setting, characters, and story. Following dinner, we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful production of the classic musical directed by Be Boyd. Bravo to the cast and crew!
September 2008 Canoe Excursion - On September 6, 2008, the Faculty Center explored offering outdoor excursions for faculty to continue creating venue's for community building. We ventured in canoe's from King's Landing (http://www.kingslandingfl.com/) paddling down to the Wekiva River State Park (http://www.canoewekiva.com/), where we took in a swim in the natural spring.
