Kevin joined UCF in 2004, after teaching at the University of California Irvine, Pomona College, the University of Iowa, and Duke University. He completed a Ph.D. in German Literature from UC-Irvine in 1997. His disciplinary research includes German Romanticism, Goethe, fairy tales, and 19th-century German novellas.

At the Faculty Center, Kevin supports all faculty at UCF, with an emphasis on helping adjuncts and graduate teaching assistants. He is particularly interested in new technology tools for teaching, such as Web 2.0 apps and a growing list of tools that make life easier in the classroom. He is also an avid collector of interactive classroom techniques to support his energetic style of teaching. Kevin created and regularly updates the Faculty Center's list of interactive techniques for teaching, and the Tech Camp handout of useful technologies for teaching.

His background and training in second-language learning provided a natural platform for exploring the issue of language and cultural connections (and collisions!) in the classroom.

Kevin frequently provides invited presentations to other institutions of higher learning on such topics as cutting-edge educational technology and newer Web applications for learning.
